Autism Causes

Although the causes of autism are still unknown, current medical research indicates the presence of biological or neurological differences in the human brain. This means that anything that can produce structural or functional damage in the central nervous system can also produce the syndrome of autism. It is believed that about ten percent of the cases of autism are genetically connected.

Some experts say that autism was patterned through families with related disabilities. This could be a genetic disorder, though no one gene has been directly linked to autism. There are also no confirmed indication that the psychological environment of a child have been associated or linked to the cause of autism.

Generally no one can tell you specifically why your child is autistic or why you have an autistic child and your neighbor does not. There are also families with more than one autistic child but these are rare cases.
